Job Description

Aston Martin Red Bull Racing is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Materials Engineer to join our team as a Materials Engineering Student Placement. This exciting opportunity will allow you to contribute to the development of our 2026 Formula 1 Power Unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct materials analysis and testing to identify suitable materials for Power Unit components.
  • Develop and implement materials engineering solutions to address technical challenges.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop materials specifications.
  • Investigate material failures and develop root cause analysis techniques.
  • Develop and maintain technical reports and documentation.
  • Work with data from virtual and physical testing to inform materials engineering decisions.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Materials Science or Materials Engineering with a strong academic record.
  • Practical knowledge of materials analysis techniques such as metallography, microscopy, and SEM.
  • Experience with materials testing and characterisation such as tensile testing and thermal property measurement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
