Job Summary

The University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Lower Limb Fellowship in our Vascular Surgery Department. As a Junior Specialist Doctor, you will be responsible for working at a higher level within the department, contributing to the care and management of patients with vascular disease.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing high-quality patient care in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Working closely with Consultants and other medical staff to ensure efficient execution of patient management plans
  • Carrying out and arranging relevant investigations, including taking histories and examining patients
  • Assisting in the operating theatre and attending out-patient sessions as required
  • Maintaining good communication with medical colleagues, anaesthetists, nursing staff, and paramedical departments
  • Participating in research projects and contributing to the development of new treatments and therapies

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A medical degree from a recognised University and full GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • At least 3 years of postgraduate training or equivalent experience and competencies
  • Experience in Vascular Surgery, with a strong interest in lower limb revascularisation and endovascular surgery
  • Proficiency in basic procedures such as arterial embolectomy, arterial anastomoses, and amputations of lower limbs
