Senior Business Intelligence Developer

This role is open to staff working at the NHS Trust in the 'ECT Family', including current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, bank staff, ISS staff, and volunteers at the Trust.

We are seeking a skilled Business Intelligence Developer to play a key role in innovating our business intelligence service. As a Senior Business Intelligence Developer, you will have the opportunity to use Power BI and Python to deliver insightful, data-driven solutions that directly enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

Our dynamic team is modernising our data and analytics capabilities, and we need your expertise to extract, analyse, and visualise data from our new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system. Your skills will be crucial in ensuring this system delivers maximum value for clinicians and patients alike.

Main duties of the job

As an experienced Business Intelligence Developer, you will design and implement business intelligence solutions to support data reporting at the trust. You will be proficient in the use of innovative software, including Power BI, Power Automate, and Python, and have the skills and knowledge to analyse health-related data.

You will play an important role in the design and implementation of the trust's business intelligence solutions, using version control software such as GIT to maintain quality, and follow software development project management methodologies such as Agile or Scrum to ensure adequate documentation of all data structures, feeds, scripts, and processes are maintained.

You will develop new dashboards in Power BI, bringing together data from multiple sources to provide useful insights for clinical and operational colleagues at the trust.

Person Specification
  • Relevant MSc degree or equivalent experience in IT, business intelligence, data science, or another relevant field
Skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Advanced Python and R skills
  • Advanced Power Automate skills
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Competent using business intelligence tools (e.g. QlikView, Tableau, SSRS/SSAS)
  • Advanced Power BI Skills
  • Experience with analysis software for interrogating large datasets
  • Ability to convey complex information to staff with non-technical backgrounds
  • Presentation skills, with experience in undertaking presentations to senior colleagues, external stakeholders, etc.
  • Advanced SSIS skills
  • HTML & CSS Skills

  • Ability to write clear and concise reports and present information relevant to sphere of responsibility within agreed timescales

  • Understanding of national key performance standards including emergency 4-hour access, 18 weeks referral to treatment, cancer, and diagnostic access
