Main Purpose of Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring seamless communication with customers, the Distribution Network Operator (DNO), and the construction team to facilitate a smooth design approval process and construction process.

They will be expected to provide guidance to the construction team in interpreting designs and conducting audits as necessary to maintain quality standards.

In addition to these responsibilities, the role will also involve leading and training other members of the electrical design team, as well as reviewing and approving their work.

The position holder will be required to contribute to business development efforts as needed by the commercial team for new projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead the design of projects and bids.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team and ensure the team and processes are developed continuously.
  • Coordinate with DNO/IDNOs to obtain design approval.
  • Guide customers through the design process.
  • Provide project cost estimates and reports.
  • Obtain technical or major procurement item quotations.
  • Assist and mentor junior team members in their development.
  • Review the quality and technicalities of work produced by other team members.
  • Approve electrical, protection, manufacturer, and consultant designs.
  • Ensure that the design approval process is managed appropriately and clients are managed through the design process.
  • Attend design reviews, design team meetings, and project meetings.
  • Support Business Development by building close working relationships and identifying additional business development opportunities that may arise during project delivery.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree in a relevant engineering subject.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards CEng.
  • A highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and confident in a client-facing role.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Electrical Distribution design up to and including 132kV.
  • Experience in using AutoCAD, Windebut ERACS, or other Power system software.
  • Clean current driving license.
What We Offer:

£70,000 - £85,000 Per Annum

£540 Car Allowance
