About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Positive Action Engagement Officer to join our Inclusion and Engagement Team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our positive action recruitment work and contributing to the development of a diverse and inclusive workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage and build relationships with local communities, voluntary sector organisations, and stakeholders to promote the trust as an employer of choice.
  • Design and deliver presentations, workshops, and careers-focused sessions to engage local communities and promote the trust's positive action programme.
  • Provide information, advice, and guidance to individuals and groups to improve their chances of obtaining employment within the trust.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement effective recruitment strategies and initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of a diverse and inclusive workforce by identifying and addressing barriers to employment.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Good level of literacy and numeracy, educated to A-level standard or Level 3 equivalent.
  • Community engagement and development skills.
  • Effective verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with a variety of diverse individuals.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the range of benefits of having a diverse workforce reflective of the local population.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Equality Act 2010.
  • Awareness and knowledge of challenges to increasing workforce diversity in the ambulance sector.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working in a similar role or in a community engagement and development capacity.
  • Knowledge of HR recruitment processes.
  • Ability to design and present materials to differing audiences in an appropriate format.
