Job Summary

HITACHI RAIL LIMITED is seeking a skilled Wheel Lathe Technician to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining the wheel lathe, as well as carrying out associated activities to support the operations of the wheel lathe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the condition of the work site, materials, and equipment.
  • Support health and safety practices in the workplace.
  • Prepare for and undertake planned maintenance on the wheel lathe and ancillary equipment.
  • Carry out wheel turning for HITACHI RAIL LIMITED and third-party rolling stock.
  • Post-operation checks and adjustments.
  • Confirm that traction and rolling stock assets comply with operational specifications.
  • Provide operational support to fleet staff if lathe duties permit.
  • Develop professionally and support good working relationships.
  • Liaise with HITACHI RAIL LIMITED and external personnel as required to complete the duties of the post.

Requirements

  • Milling/Turning/CNC or similar experience.
  • Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to represent HITACHI RAIL LIMITED in a professional manner at all times.
  • Good team worker.

Education/Qualifications

  • M & E ONC or served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplines.
  • Engineering-based NVQ level 3.
