Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our Acute Care team as a Healthcare Assistant. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, personal, and effective care to patients referred to our service.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing venepuncture, cannulation, and male/female catheterisation. You will also attend and support with the care of deteriorating patients, work alongside the Vascular Access Practitioner, and support the delivery of formal and informal education to staff.

Person Specification
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills
  • HCA training day
  • Willingness to undertake further training
Desirable Criteria
  • NVQ 3 in a care-related field or equivalent
Experience
  • Previous experience working within an acute healthcare setting
Work Skills
  • Proven ability to manage priorities under pressure
  • Proven ability to understand and comply with detailed procedures
  • Cannulation skills
  • Venepuncture
Special Aptitudes
  • Clear and accurate written/verbal communication
  • Able to work the hours required by the needs of the service
  • Able to adapt to the changing needs of the service
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team and independently
  • Demonstrates a friendly and caring manner
