Job Title: School Crossing Patrol Officer

Join Essex County Council's School Crossing Patrol Team as a School Crossing Patrol Officer and support your local community by ensuring the safety of all pedestrians crossing the road to and from school and its surrounding locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain regular contact with schools attended by children using the crossing.
  • Regularly assess the risks associated with operating at the crossing site and report problems and defects to supervisor.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports on accidents and failure to stop incidents and other incidents occurring at the crossing site.
  • Ensure that all uniform and equipment provided is maintained in good condition and replacements requested when needed.
  • Give clear signals to drivers when stopping traffic and ensuring that the traffic remains at rest until the road at the crossing point is clear of pedestrians.
Requirements:
  • To have regard for the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility impaired people wishing to use the crossing point.
  • Punctual and reliable individual who is approachable and enjoys engaging with the public.
What We Offer:
  • Uniform, equipment, and training will be provided.
  • Approximately 7.5 hours per week, with a holiday pay element included.
  • Opportunity to work in a variety of locations across Essex.
