Education Support Specialist
2 months ago
New Directions Holding is collaborating with an outstanding primary school to fill the role of a supportive teaching assistant. This opportunity arises as the school seeks to maintain its high standards of education and student support, following a recent Ofsted inspection that recognised its excellence. The school was awarded a "Good" rating with "Outstanding" features, highlighting its commitment to providing a high-quality learning environment. A key factor contributing to this success is the strong and visionary leadership of the senior management team, which has been instrumental in driving continuous improvement across the school. Responsibilities of the role include:
* Having excellent communication skills
* Building strong relationships with students and staff
* Being encouraging and supportive
* Having a positive attitude towards teaching and aiding children's development
* Ensuring the safety and well-being of the student
Although the role is based around education support, due to the children's personal needs and behaviours they require consistent mentoring, motivating and advising, as well as some counselling, so their well-being can remain stable meaning they can achieve much more in their education and work towards an independent future. Behaviours displayed by the children can be challenging so applicants must be prepared to practice De-escalation and calming techniques, as well as maintaining an empathetic approach and understanding that behaviours stem from other problems. Candidates from care, sports, psychology, criminology, sociology and youth work backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Job Specification
* Having experience working with children, or adults, with additional needs
* Holding a L2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
* Able to support children of all abilities
* Having a positive and ambitious attitude to learning
What New Directions Holding offers:
* A dedicated and expert Account Manager
* Regular and varied supply work
* Competitive rates of pay
* Potential long-term teaching roles
* Full compliance with the Agency Workers Regulation (AWR)
* A network of branches across the UK
* Preferred supplier to more than 20 boroughs across the UK
* Recommend-a-friend scheme
* Respected reputation across the education and recruitment industry
We are fully committed to the protection of children and vulnerable adults. All applicants must undertake a full enhanced DBS check.
