About Us

At Palmer & Howells, we're passionate about creating exceptional food experiences that bring people together. Our Catering Assistant role is perfect for someone who shares our values and is dedicated to delivering high-quality food and service to our pupils.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with our team to produce freshly prepared lunches for pupils and school staff, instilling a sense of teamwork and camaraderie.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, including Food Hygiene and Health & Safety policy, to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Maintain a clean kitchen environment, working efficiently to meet requirements during busy lunchtimes.
  • Support food service at occasions such as meetings and sports events, adapting to changing needs while delivering exceptional service.
What We're Looking For
  • A versatile and outgoing individual with a people-focused approach, able to match our values and work collaboratively with the team.
  • Basic Health & Safety knowledge, with a Food Safety L2 certificate a plus but not essential.
  • An interest in food preparation and cooking, with a passion for delivering high-quality food experiences.
  • The ability to work the hours listed and commute easily to the location.
Why Palmer & Howells?
  • We offer fantastic hours, working Monday to Friday during school term time, with more time for friends and family and no working at Christmas.
  • This role is 17.5 hours per week, with no late nights, and 38 weeks per year based around term time.
  • We pay £11.44 per hour and offer a dedicated L&D team to support your development, including apprenticeships and training courses.

We're committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with employers and the Disclosure and Barring service (DBS).
