About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Cloud Data Engineering Leader to join our team at Aviva.

As a key member of our Solutions Team in IWR, you will be responsible for delivering wider capability across the organization.

Your expertise in cloud technologies, particularly AWS, will enable you to motivate and manage a team of 4 engineers, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge required to design and implement modern OLAP platforms like Snowflake.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of data engineers in the design and implementation of cloud-based data engineering solutions.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in cloud technologies, including AWS, EMR-FS, Glue Data Catalogue, S3, SQS, and Lambda.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and develop data engineering solutions that meet those needs.
  • Ensure compliance with data security and governance policies.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in leading data engineering teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and their applications in data engineering.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Familiarity with modern OLAP technologies like Snowflake and Lake House.
  • Experience with streaming technologies like Apache Kafka and Kinesis.
