Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team in Lincoln. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support due to their Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one support to students with SEN and SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist in implementing personalised Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and other learning strategies.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Help students manage their behaviour and emotions using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.
  • Promote independence and encourage students to develop self-confidence and resilience.
  • Support students' social and emotional development, helping them build positive relationships.
  • Liaise with SENCOs, teachers, and other professionals to monitor student progress and adapt support as needed.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students, following all safeguarding protocols.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH, either in a school or care setting.
  • Previous experience in an educational setting is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting student learning and development.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN/SEMH and the strategies to support them.
  • Basic knowledge of classroom management techniques and educational best practices.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and tools is a plus.
  • A valid DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.
