About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead the delivery of cutting-edge research projects at the intersection of advanced AI and biological/chemical science. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the execution of multiple research projects, working closely with our technical researchers to devise and deliver new projects, and shaping the long-term strategy of our chem/bio team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the delivery of research projects, ensuring timely completion and high-quality outputs.
  • Collaborate with researchers to develop new project ideas, aligning them with our strategic objectives and turning their findings into actionable insights for policymakers.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the AI safety landscape, identifying areas for improvement and informing our research agenda.
  • Communicate complex research findings to senior officials, ministers, and external stakeholders, building strong relationships and influencing policy decisions.
  • Work closely with National Security partners to ensure seamless collaboration and coordination.
  • Leverage a network of research partners and policy stakeholders to advance our mission and achieve impactful outcomes.

  • A start-up mindset, with experience navigating uncertainty and adapting quickly to changing circumstances.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, delivering results under tight deadlines.
  • Passion for the mission of the AI Safety Institute, with a good understanding of issues at the intersection of AI and biological/chemical science.
  • Ability to work effectively at pace, making informed decisions and remaining calm under pressure.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information for diverse audiences.
