Game Development Lead Software Engineer

About the Role
As a down-to-earth and creative thinking Lead Programmer, you will be responsible for taking ownership of key game systems design and development. You will also provide support and mentorship to junior programmers, rapidly gaining in-depth knowledge of new technology and development practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead Game System Development: Design and develop critical game systems that drive player engagement and satisfaction.
- Mentor Junior Programmers: Provide guidance and support to junior team members, helping them grow professionally and personally.
- Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Trends: Rapidly acquire knowledge of new technologies and development practices to stay ahead in the industry.
- Standardize Methodologies: Develop and effectively communicate standard methodologies to team members and other disciplines.
- Bring Technical Expertise: Leverage your technical expertise to overcome complex challenges in game development.
- Optimize Game Systems: Effectively profile and optimize game systems to ensure seamless gameplay.
Requirements
- Educational Background: A degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Commercial Experience: Minimum 3 years of commercial games programming experience.
- Engine Architecture: In-depth understanding of engine architecture and experience of the full development lifecycle.
- AI Knowledge: Proven AI knowledge is highly desirable.
- Collaboration Skills: Experience working with design and content teams.
- Programming Skills: Advanced C++ programming skills.
- Unreal Experience: Extensive Unreal experience is required.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Time Management: Strong time management and organisation skills.
- Teamwork: An enthusiastic team worker with a logical and analytical mindset.
- Mathematics: Excellent mathematical skills.
- Passion for Games Programming: A real passion for games programming.
- Leadership Experience: Experience leading a team.
