About the Role:
We are looking for passionate individuals with a keen interest in working with and inspiring young people, making a difference in their lives, supporting them to have a voice and influence on services, and engaging in positive activities within a universal open access youth setting.
Responsibilities:
You will be part of a team that provides year-round safe spaces across the borough, bringing a variety of different methods and skills to plan, organise, and deliver universal and targeted youth activities and programmes. Your skills and knowledge will be essential in:
- Communication skills: presentation, verbal, and written
- Initiative and teamwork: working well on your own initiative and with others
- Sensitivity and understanding: of young people's current issues, challenges, and needs
- Calmness and patience: remaining calm in stressful situations
- Attention to detail: having a 'can do' attitude and being thorough
Qualifications and Experience:
We welcome applications from candidates with the following:
- Level 1/2 NVQ JNC recognised Youth Support Worker qualification or similar qualifications in Sports, Teaching, or Youth Justice
- Candidates currently undertaking a formal qualification to work with young people
- Candidates with experience and qualifications of working with vulnerable young people, including those with SEND, young carers, and those who can speak Bengali or Somali (Desirable)
- Applicants currently in Full Time/Part Time education will be considered for part-time roles
- Candidates with a minimum of 2 years' experience of working with young people
Essential Requirements:
Candidates must have an Enhanced DBS check and be willing to be flexible and travel within the borough.
Working Conditions:
Roles will involve in-person/face-to-face direct delivery working with young people in a universal youth work setting across Tower Hamlets, including some weekend work, with prior notice provided.
