Academic Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled SEND Teacher to join our team at a Gloucester-based special school, supporting students aged 11-16 with their day-to-day learning needs.
About the RoleThis is a full-time, temporary position that requires the successful candidate to work collaboratively with our established team to support children on an individual basis or in small groups.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and be able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
Key Responsibilities- Support students with SEND in a variety of settings, including one-to-one and small group sessions
- Develop and implement tailored educational plans to meet the needs of each student
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure comprehensive support for students with complex needs
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers to keep them informed of progress and involve them in decision-making processes
- Experience working with students with SEND
- Caring and positive nature
- Able to build positive relationships with children and young people
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Willingness to pay for a DBS check and register with the Update Service
