About the Role:

As a Prisoner Custody Officer (PCO) at our court, you will be an integral part of a team that provides safe and secure escorting and custody services to detainees. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the physical and mental wellbeing of those in your care.

You will work closely with colleagues to provide comprehensive care to detainees, including accompanying them in court rooms and cells, searching property or people, and ensuring food and drink is available. You will also be responsible for completing paperwork and data entry for each day.

About the Team:

We operate on a rota basis, allowing you to enjoy meaningful time off to do the things you enjoy. As a PCO, you will cover various early and late shifts, working hrs per week. Flexibility is key in this role, and we encourage applicants who can adapt to different working arrangements and additional hours.

We are operational 6 days a week, and our team is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of others. If you have a current valid driver's license, are reasonably fit, and possess good written and verbal communication skills, we would love to hear from you.

About the Requirements:

Our ideal candidate will have a particular interest in criminology or psychology. However, what matters most is that you are committed to making a difference to the lives of others. We provide ongoing training and development opportunities, and our experienced colleagues will guide you through your 5 1/2-week training course.

As a member of our team, you will undergo a rigorous assessment process, including online assessments, briefing calls, competency-based virtual interviews, and short role-plays and written exercises. All roles are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 4, and all offers of employment are subject to Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 checks with Enhanced DBS (Adult & Child Barring) and satisfactory employment references.
