About the Role

BAM Nuttall is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our Pre-Construction team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in the work-winning and pre-construction phases of large civil engineering projects, providing critical infrastructure for future renewable developments across Scotland.

Your Responsibilities
  • Maintain effective communication with the Framework Director, Regional Commercial Manager, project management, and other associated disciplines to enhance the profile of commercial services.
  • Be responsible for staff matters, including staff succession awareness, recruitment, development, attitude, and behavioural issues, competency, and retainment issues, staff allocation.
  • Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings, contract vetting, and input to subcontract documents.
  • Ensure audits are carried out and feedback is provided to the business.
  • Provide commercial input to contacts with clients and, if necessary, client representatives.
  • Provide commercial advice to the site team in connection with all project issues and provide input to area commercial discussions/reviews.
  • Take part in discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy.
  • Ensure the production of monthly cost and value reports, quarterly forecasts, and company tied costs. Obtain cash-flow information and present all reports.
  • Provide input to dispute identification and management.
  • Produce and negotiate insurance claims with insurer representatives.
  • Agree terms and engage legal and commercial consultants and monitor their accounts.
  • Maintain contact with supply chain partners through contract vetting and input to contract documentation.
  • Carry out sub-contract document vetting and input to sub-contract documentation.
Requirements
  • Successful experience as a Commercial Manager working with multiple projects and a minimum of 4 years in this role.
  • Joint Venture experience.
  • Member of a Professional Institution or working towards application of the ICES or similar.
  • Open collaborative approach and willing to help and assist those around you.
  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant Commercial, Construction, or Project Management qualification (preferred but not essential).
