Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Highways Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Ringway Jacobs. As a Highways Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering a safe, sustainable, and effective highway network for all road users by way of routine inspections and defect identification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out inspections and record the condition of the public highway to ensure it is maintained to a standard acceptable to the Highways Authority.
  • Raise defects using data capture devices to enable the delivery teams or utilities to plan and prioritise work accordingly.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and information to stakeholders, partners, and customers, responding to complaints and guiding customers on appropriate actions.
  • Identify sites of accident claims, check works history and specification for safety compliance, and prepare documentation for court hearings.
  • Meet specific individual and shared targets and objectives defined annually within the performance management framework.

Requirements

  • Educated to RQF Level 3 (A Level) or equivalent by experience.
  • A City and Guilds qualification relevant to highway engineering or ONC or equivalent is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Highway Authority and Local Government policies, practices, and procedures in relation to highways maintenance, including Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build strong partnerships with contractors, Members, and the public.
