Datacenter Infrastructure Specialist

A Datacenter Engineer position has become available at Viasat, a leading global communications company with over 35 years of experience in shaping consumer, business, government, and military communication.

This role is a hybrid work position that requires weekly onsite work. The successful candidate will work closely with other maritime and aircraft system data center engineers to build and support reliable, compliant, and operational labs for developers, test teams, and customers.

About the Role
  • The Datacenter Engineer will help build and maintain new mobility test and development labs for internal and external customers.
  • Integration with existing network and deployed systems and documenting the as-built procedures as well as a framework for supporting the deployed systems is required.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Install and configure hardware (servers, switches, routers, power distribution units (PDUs), and software).
  • Rack and run cables necessary for interconnected systems.
  • Run, label, and dress cabling necessary for interconnected systems.
  • Perform Linux and Windows administration tasks.
  • Implement security posturing and management strategies.
  • Monitor and manage network performance.
  • Create and maintain diagrams, documentation, and guides related to lab infrastructure, setup, and processes.
  • Provide technical support to other teams, troubleshoot issues, and effectively communicate problems to management and higher-level technical support.
Your Qualifications
  • Troubleshooting and triaging of system alerts for mid-level issues.
  • Able to effectively work with other team members to resolve issues and suggest practical solutions.
  • Experience with typical application landscapes within an enterprise data center environment.
  • Experience with implementing and maintaining virtualized environments.
  • Strong experience with Linux and Windows system administration, including security and patch management.
  • Solid understanding of networking principles, including protocols, routing, ports, and firewalls.
  • Experience with supporting hardware in virtualized environments.
  • Ability to run and terminate cables in a lab environment, including cable fabrication.

What We Offer
  • $115,000 - $140,000 per year.
