We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to lead our Quality and Technical function. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the successful management of food safety, legal compliance, and relevant quality-related standards.

Responsibilities
---------------

* Lead a team through a growth and investment period
* Ensure the successful management of the Quality and Technical function
* Focus on food safety and quality standards on site ensuring compliance
* Ensure the delivery of product for sale within specification from both a food safety and quality perspective
* Manage relevant quality standards, e.g. HACCP, to ensure food safety, statutory & Company standards are maintained
* Produce production/working specifications as required and identify and record any product and or service quality problems
* Ensure the necessary product testing is completed on time (including Micro / Swabs / allergen / speciation analysis etc.), maintaining suitable records & trends and communicating non-conformances appropriately and conducting root cause analysis reports
* Ensure supplier audits based on risk analysis are completed
* Work directly with production supervisors/managers and prepare regular management reports and trend analysis
* Ensure pest control visits take place and ensure agreed recommendations of the pest control company are implemented
* Support Product development & NPD function including line trials through to factory production
* Record all customer complaints & delegate to appropriate dept in a timely and effective manner and provide feedback to the management team
* Support staff on queries regarding shelf life, quality, nutritional information and allergens
* Co-ordinate external audits/visits to ensure positive outcomes e.g. Liaise with external bodies in relation to food safety issues e.g. DEARA, EHO, Trading Standards
* Develop new approaches or technologies in the area of technical to ensure continuous improvement
* Observe, act and immediately report any issues that may pose a threat to a safe working environment
* Manage performance of Technical Team members, setting goals and objectives and measuring outcomes
* Successful hosting and co-ordination of all major audits and customer technical visits to site
* Develop and present performance indicators for the technical function on a daily, weekly & monthly basis
* Ensure successful completion of the annual BRC audit

Requirements
------------

* Degree qualified / equivalent Technical Manager
* Experience working in a chilled or frozen meat manufacturing environment
