Job Description

**Job Title:** Paralegal/Legal Assistant - Safeguarding Adults and Education

**Job Type:** Temporary, with a possibility to extend

**Location:** Remote ( flexible working arrangements available)

**Hours:** Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm

**Pay:** £19.50 per hour

**About the Role:**

We are seeking an experienced Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our in-house legal team, working within the Legal Safeguarding Team. The successful candidate will primarily work in the area of Adult Social care and/or Education.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide legal advice and services to Client Departments of the Council for the relevant specialist areas of Safeguarding Adults and Education.
  • Prepare court documents and bundles, assess client statements, liaise with the courts, counsel, and other external organisations.
  • Support the Legal Services Manager, solicitors, and social work clients with their caseload, including complex and high-profile cases.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to Client Departments of the Council as and when required.

**Requirements:**

  • Strong administration skills associated with a busy office environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Team skills and the ability to interpret legislation in a common sense and practical manner.
  • Strong organisational and IT skills are essential.
  • A methodical approach to planning and organising tasks to ensure they are carried out in a timely manner and to an accurate and high standard.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Confidence in dealing with clients in a caring and professional manner both on the telephone and in person.
