Role Overview: Functional Skills English Tutor

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced educator to join our team as a Functional Skills English Tutor at HMP Hull. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of learners in a prison setting.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues to create a supportive learning environment that promotes academic success and personal growth. Your responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing and delivering engaging and effective lessons that cater to diverse learning needs.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports to track learner progress, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of curriculum plans that meet the needs of learners.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A teaching qualification or subject specialist qualification at Level 4 (Level 5 - new standards) with a commitment to obtaining the relevant outstanding Level 4 (Level 5 - new standards) qualification within a specified time scale.
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Demonstrate a track record of effective teaching in subject specialism.

Salary Information

The salary for this role is £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience, and is based at HMP Hull in East Yorkshire, UK.
