Salary
The salary for this role is competitive, ranging from £56,767 to £83,909 per annum, based on experience. In addition to your basic salary, you can also look forward to a generous holiday entitlement and membership of the NHS Pension Scheme.
Job Role
As a Head of Audiology Department, you will be responsible for leading the Audiology team at University Hospital Monklands. You will oversee the operational management of a Department and potentially lead a speciality, such as Tinnitus management or Paediatric assessment. Your primary goal will be to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and improve outcomes through effective leadership and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of senior clinical audiologists, clinical audiologists, senior audiology assistants, and students* Ensure that the team maintains up-to-date knowledge and skills in professional issues, CPO requirements, and student training* Develop and implement effective strategies to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction* Collaborate with other teams to achieve departmental goals and objectives* Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement* Develop and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders, including patients, families, and community groups* Work closely with senior leaders to shape the future of audiology services within the health board* Act as a champion for innovation, quality, and safety within the department
Skills and Qualifications
* Master's degree in audiology or a related field* Proven experience in clinical leadership, team management, and staff development* Strong communication and interpersonal skills* Ability to adapt to changing priorities and environments* Full UK/EU/EEA driving license (if required)* Knowledge of current legislation and policies affecting audiology practice* Understanding of quality improvement methodologies and tools* Experience in budgeting and financial management* Certification in clinical supervision or management preferred* Possession of a recognized qualification in audiology practice and/or teaching preferred* Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications* Familiarity with electronic patient records and relevant software systems* Excellent time management and prioritization skills* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines* Familiarity with Scottish healthcare system and regulations preferred* Familiarity with LANARKSHIRE Healthcare Board policies and procedures preferred* English language skills sufficient for communicating effectively with colleagues, patients, and families.*
