Swindon, Swindon, United Kingdom Swindon Borough Council Full time

At Swindon Borough Council, we strive to create a better quality of life for everyone in our town. Our vision is supported by ambitious transformation programmes, with the people of Swindon at their heart. As a Highway Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our friendly local authority in making decisions with real impact. You will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance work on the roads, footways, signs, and lines across Swindon, which is set to increase by 30% over the next five years as the Council delivers expansion plans. This will provide homes, jobs, recreational opportunities, and a high-quality environment for residents, visitors, and employers alike.

The success of our vision depends on our fantastic employees and fostering the talent of the future. As a Highway Maintenance Technician, you will be required to carry out a variety of repairs on the highway, as well as help to deliver larger projects throughout the Borough. You may be required to work overtime as and when needed. A driving licence is essential, and you must be fluent in the English language.

As an employee, you will receive a diverse and exciting environment in which to work, encouraging creativity and innovation while recognising the need to support ongoing personal development and a flexible work-life balance. You will be part of a team that is committed to achieving our vision of a prosperous, revitalised Swindon by 2030. We welcome applications from a diverse range of communities, and in particular, disabled people and people from ethnic minorities.

For further information about the role, please email Mark Robinson, Operations Manager – Specialist Services. Please note that clicking the 'Apply' button on this job website is not an application; you must register on the Swindon Borough Council website to be considered for the role.
