Fire Safety Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Safety Manager to join our team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. As a Fire Safety Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the Trust's compliance with fire safety regulations and guidelines.
Main Responsibilities- Lead the Fire Safety Team in ensuring Trust-wide fire safety compliance against recognized legislation and guidance.
- Develop and maintain efficient processes and systems for fire risk management, supporting the Director of Estates and Facilities Management and the Chief Financial Officer in meeting statutory obligations.
- Assist the Director of Estates and Facilities Management and the Chief Finance Officer in ensuring governance activities reflect national and local guidance and initiatives in relation to fire safety requirements.
- Provide assurance that the Trust is meeting statutory and regulatory requirements, identifying gaps and articulating mitigation plans.
- Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and systems to support fire safety, with robust governance processes to monitor implementation and effectiveness.
- Act as the lead competent person for fire safety issues, referencing NHS Firecode standards and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
- Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience in fire life safety management.
- Fire training college course(s) for fire safety management certification or equivalent.
- Understanding of fire science, prevention practices, and legislation concerning fire safety in healthcare premises.
- Technical knowledge of firefighting equipment, fire alarm and detection systems, and structural fire precautions.
- Membership of a professional organization, such as the Institute of Fire Engineers or the Institute of Fire Prevention Officers.
- Previous experience in fire safety management in an acute hospital environment.
- Experience working with HTM 'Firecode'.
- Extensive experience in providing technical direction for fire safety management.
- Experience managing building compliance according to fire safety regulations, professional guidance, and good practice.
- Experience managing professional staff, including staff development and performance management.
- Experience in fire safety project management and provision of advice to project management teams.
- Experience in fire investigation work.
- Knowledge and experience of fire safety quality management systems.
- Experience in arranging and delivering fire safety training to non-fire personnel.
- Significant knowledge of the Regulatory Reform Order (RRO), Firecode, and Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) managing healthcare fire safety.
- Fire risk assessment techniques and associated control measures to mitigate risk.
- Building Regulations Approved Document B.
- Personnel management, appraisal, and disciplinary processes.
- Significant experience in developing healthcare fire safety policies and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to liaise with external agencies, such as the Fire and Rescue Services, Health and Safety Executive, and Local Authority Planners.
- Experience in report writing and presentation skills.
