About the Role

The Woodland Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Northern Ireland Operations team as an Assistant Estate Ranger. This is a key role that will involve developing and delivering practical conservation projects within Mourne Park, as well as assisting in data collection, community engagement, and volunteer management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver practical conservation projects within Mourne Park, including data collection and monitoring.
  • Assist in community engagement and volunteer management, including training and practical tasks.
  • Manage site operations to budgets and timescales, including supervising volunteers and ensuring Health and Safety.
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, and contractors.
  • Raise the profile of Mourne Park and engage with visitors to enhance their experience of ancient woodlands and natural green spaces.
Requirements
  • Experience working in land management, preferably in forestry or woodland conservation.
  • Experience leading delivery of practical conservation projects and supervising volunteers.
  • Knowledge of wildlife legislation and ability to manage site operations to budgets and timescales.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-building skills, with a proactive 'can-do' attitude.
  • A full driving licence and ability to travel across a wide area.
