About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Supervisor to join our team at Illumina Lab Services in Hinxton, Cambridge. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of our Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) production service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide line management to clinical laboratory technicians, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Plan and maintain lab schedules to meet daily operational needs, ensuring that customer Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met.
  • Supervise the lab team on day-to-day activities, ensuring that throughput targets are met and high ISO 15189 standards are maintained.
  • Guarantee full compliance with International Standards (ISO and EH&S requirements) in the lab.
  • Ensure all team members adhere to existing Risk Assessments (RAs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Work Instructions (WIs) at all times.
  • Recommend changes to team processes to improve team effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Identify training requirements to support individual development and maintain efficient operations.
  • Take responsibility for the efficient use of all lab equipment within the clinical laboratories.
  • Troubleshoot issues affecting day-to-day lab production, identifying rapid solutions to maintain targets and quality.
