Are you passionate about mechanical engineering and eager to develop your skills in a dynamic and innovative environment? MBDA's Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship Programme is designed to provide you with the ideal platform to launch your career in this exciting field.

As a Mechanical Engineer Trainee, you will be part of a team that designs, develops, and manufactures cutting-edge missile systems. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from early development and research to in-service support, and will be educated in key engineering design and analysis skills.

Throughout the 4-year programme, you will attend Cambridge Regional College for 1 day per week, studying towards a Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship, which includes a HNC qualification in Mechanical Engineering. The remaining time will be spent on work placements, typically lasting three to six months, where you will gain hands-on experience and apply your skills in a real-world setting.

The programme is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to become a competent Mechanical Engineer, and you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including mechanical design, analysis, and testing.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components
  • Conduct analysis and testing to ensure mechanical integrity and performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and to budget
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and records

Requirements:

  • 5 GCSEs including Maths, English Language, and Science/Technology at Grade 9-4
  • 96 UCAS Points achieved through A-Levels, T-levels, or Engineering BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma
