Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join our Capripoxvirus Biology Group. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering an excellent research program, focusing on the development and optimization of novel tools for genetic engineering of Capripoxviruses.
Main Responsibilities- Design, perform, and analyze experiments to develop and optimize tools for genetic engineering of Capripoxviruses.
- Maintain high-quality records of experimental procedures and datasets, and report findings and progress at periodic individual and group meetings.
- Work in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all health, safety, and biosafety protocols, including mandatory training for high-containment facilities.
- Contribute to the scientific community at The Pirbright Institute by attending internal and external seminars, presenting, and discussing own work and ideas, and engaging in outreach activities to communicate scientific work to wider audiences.
- PhD or equivalent in virology, microbiology, immunology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and knowledge of virology, particularly poxviruses.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a proven track record of success in biomedical research.
- Experience with aseptic technique, mammalian cell culture, and molecular cloning techniques.
