Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ophthalmic Nurse to join our team at the Prince Charles Eye Unit, King Edward VII Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality ophthalmic care to our patients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Supervise junior staff and support the department manager with the day-to-day running of the clinical activity.
  • Assist with the delivery of ophthalmic services at Prince Charles Eye Unit.
  • Facilitate the provision of excellent nursing care and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Be a role model and demonstrate leadership competencies, engaging with research and evidence-based practice.
  • Support pre-operative assessment, developing essential skills such as undertaking biometry measurements and demonstrating knowledge relating to various ophthalmic procedures.
  • Develop key competencies to support emergency eye care, such as nursing assessment and triage of urgent patients.
  • Undertake training according to local policies and procedures to support intravitreal injections and work autonomously where appropriate.
Requirements
  • Experience of working within a Clinical NHS setting.
  • Evidence of IT Skills.
  • Evidence of Leadership/Management and Speciality Development.
  • Registered Nurse - Adult Nurse Sub Part 1.
  • Ophthalmic Qualification.
  • SSSA Supervisor and Assessor Training, or equivalent.
Working Arrangements

This is a full-time permanent position, working within the NHS.
