Teaching Assistant Role for SEN Pupil

We are working with a friendly and successful Primary school in Westminster to recruit a teaching assistant to support a child in Year 1 who requires extra help to move around the school and access the curriculum. The child has a visual impairment and uses a walking frame. The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 SEN, Teaching Assistant or child care qualification and be able to provide academic support and assistance with mobility. This is a great opportunity for a graduate looking to gain experience in education or an existing teaching assistant looking for a new challenge. The role is term time only and full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the child in class to access the curriculum using visual aids and general academic support

• Support the child to move around the school as needed

• Provide general academic support to the child

• Work closely with the child's parents and teachers to ensure the child's needs are met

Requirements:

• Level 3 SEN, Teaching Assistant or child care qualification

• Ability to provide academic support and assistance with mobility

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
