About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Category Development Manager to join our team at MKM Building Supplies. As a key member of our procurement team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the growth of our renewable energy and sustainability categories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Category Strategy Development: Lead the evolution and implementation of our category strategy for renewable energy and sustainability, analyzing market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes to identify growth opportunities.
  • Product and Supplier Management: Monitor and manage supplier performance, ensuring product quality and availability, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align category strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Branch and Business Development Support: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement campaigns that promote our renewable energy and sustainability categories, and create and deliver training materials and presentations for internal teams and customers.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Regularly analyze sales data, customer feedback, and market trends to measure category performance and identify areas for improvement, and provide detailed reports and insights to senior management.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in category management, product management, or a similar role within the builders' merchant or construction industry, with a focus on renewable energy, sustainability, or energy transition.
  • Strong knowledge of renewable energy products, sustainable building materials, and the energy transition landscape in the UK.
  • Excellent communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and market trends to make informed business decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful business development plans across a wide branch network.
