About the Role
Oxford University Press is seeking a seasoned Tax Director to lead our global tax affairs and drive business growth in alignment with our charitable objectives.
We are a leading academic publisher with a worldwide reach and a deep understanding of local needs. Our mission is to partner with researchers, educators, and technology partners to stay ahead of the changing ways people access and share knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tax strategies to support business growth and minimize risk.
- Lead the preservation of tax exemptions and ensure compliance with local regulations.
- Provide technical advice on tax structures and arrangements for new business initiatives.
- Identify and mitigate tax risks worldwide, working closely with local management.
- Ensure all group businesses comply with local tax requirements.
- Prepare tax returns and manage relationships with tax authorities.
- Drive a culture of excellence within the tax team and support development opportunities.
- Collaborate with Oxford University's tax department and external tax advisers.
About You
We are looking for a confident communicator with line management experience and a good understanding of global business models. You will have:
- A UK tax qualification and be a qualified accountant.
- In-depth experience of UK and international taxation.
- In-depth knowledge of the taxation of UK charities.
- The ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience of dealing with challenging situations while maintaining strong working relationships.
- Strong business understanding and commercial awareness.
