Unlocking the Potential of Mobile Robotics

This research opportunity involves developing a novel approach for fusing data from multiple mobile robotic systems to acquire 3D reconstructions of large-scale assets. The project aims to create autonomous mobile robots capable of real-time monitoring and inspection across various sectors, including construction, aerospace, nuclear, and transport.

The proposed solution leverages advanced technologies like SLAM, AI, and precision metrology to tackle complex challenges in asset inspection and management. Our collaboration with the MTC enables us to develop practical and innovative solutions that address industry needs.

We seek a highly motivated and skilled individual with a strong academic record in robotics, mechanical engineering, or a related field. The ideal candidate should possess programming expertise and a keen interest in robotic systems and metrology. The studentship provides a competitive package, including a tax-free stipend of £25,000 per annum for three years, plus UK tuition fees.
