About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team at the Greater London Authority (GLA). As a key member of our digital infrastructure team, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and secure cloud-based systems. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the smooth operation of our digital estate, working closely with development teams to optimize development, testing, and release processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement infrastructure as code using Terraform or similar tools to provision performant and secure infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain robust monitoring solutions for digital services and implement robust security controls and monitoring across infrastructure and application components.
  • Support the development and rollout of continuous integration and deployment pipelines across the GLA's Digital estate, utilizing containerization techniques where appropriate, and collaborating with the development operations team.
  • Lead and manage IT issue and knowledge management systems, providing technical support up to second level, and liaising with external experts for third-level support.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential criteria:

  • Experience of developing and managing technical systems and procedures in areas such as data integrity, including patching and backups.
  • Experience of automated deployment of applications and services to AWS.
  • Knowledge/experience of technologies such as Ansible, Packer, Terraform, Linux, MySQL, PostgreSQL, NGINX, PHP, Drupal, Tomcat, Maven, Composer, and Java.
  • Able to define the continuous integration build, coordinate build activities across systems, and understand how to undertake and support integration testing activities.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of £70,000-£90,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including 30 days' annual leave, interest-free season ticket loan, and career average pension scheme.
