About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Support Specialist to join our team at a local Secondary School in Weymouth. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting students with autism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to students with autism, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Foster a supportive environment that promotes social and emotional development, encouraging students to feel safe and valued.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies tailored to each student's needs.
  • Ensure effective communication between students, teachers, and parents/guardians, keeping all stakeholders informed about student progress.
  • Encourage students to develop independence and life skills, promoting self-confidence and resilience.
  • Regularly assess and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to progress reports and reviews.

Requirements

  • Experience or training in supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
  • Patient, empathetic, and positive attitude towards supporting student development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing student needs and the school environment.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusivity and equality within an educational setting.
