Leading Machine Learning Engineer for AI-Powered Customer Experience

The Tech organisation at OVO is undergoing an exciting expansion phase, which includes hiring talented professionals across various data squads throughout 2024 and 2025. As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a vital role in developing OVO's cutting-edge contact centre AI solution, leveraging state-of-the-art Generative AI as the sole ML expert in a collaborative product team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and scale OVO's contact centre AI solution, working closely with a cross-functional team of Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Data Engineers
- Create and maintain training, evaluation, and deployment pipelines for AI, including tasks like Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), fine-tuning, and large language models (LLMs)
- Collaborate with data scientists to design and implement feedback loops, online and offline evaluation methods, and A/B testing for continuous model improvement
- Owning the observability, cost management, performance, training, and evaluation of models to ensure reliable and efficient deployments
- Bring ML expertise to shape the team's target architecture, design pipelines, and help define robust development processes
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience with deploying production-grade models with rigorous standards for scalability, reliability, and monitoring
- Experience in repeatable cloud infrastructure provisioning, configuration management across the MLOps architecture (including CI/CD pipelines) and database systems
- Fluency in Python, SQL, and Terraform
- Strong understanding of software testing and continuous integration
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality data and software engineering projects end-to-end, translating into true commercial impact within a business
- Excellent presentation and communication skills – able to articulate results clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders
