We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Secondary Supply Teacher to provide high-quality teaching and learning experiences across various secondary schools in Plymouth. This is an excellent opportunity for passionate educators who are looking for flexible work schedules while gaining experience across different school environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging lessons across a range of subjects or a subject specialism to ensure continuity in students' education during teacher absences.
  • Teach across various secondary schools in Plymouth, managing different classrooms and adhering to each school's policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain discipline and ensure a positive learning environment, managing behaviour in line with the schools' policies.
  • Deliver pre-set lesson plans or create your own, depending on the school's requirements, to ensure students stay on track with the curriculum.
  • Mark student work where required and provide feedback to schools on progress or any areas of concern.
  • Develop rapport with students, school staff, and other stakeholders to promote a positive educational environment.
  • Follow safeguarding and child protection policies to ensure student safety and well-being at all times.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential for teaching in secondary schools.
  • Experience in Secondary Education: Proven experience teaching at secondary level, with the ability to manage classrooms and deliver lessons effectively.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel to different schools within Plymouth and adapt to varied school environments and timetables.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent communication with students, school staff, and administrators to ensure a smooth teaching experience.
  • Classroom Management Skills: Confidence in handling classroom behaviour and implementing school policies effectively.
  • Enhanced DBS Check: Must have or be willing to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • Subject Specialism (Desirable): Expertise in a specific subject such as Maths, English, Science, Humanities, or Modern Foreign Languages is highly desirable.
