Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Recovery Worker to join our team at Dame Gertrude Young House, an accommodation-based service for men with severe and enduring mental health needs.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our service users to develop the life skills required to maintain their independence in the community.

About the Role
  • Empower a caseload of service users to manage their health and wellbeing, maintain their independence, identify their strengths and achieve their goals and aspirations.
  • Develop co-produced group activities, peer support networks and other community-based approaches to empower service users to achieve their goals and aspirations.
  • Liaise effectively with statutory providers and other voluntary sector agencies involved in the support and / or treatment of service users.
  • Assist service users to develop their social networks in order to attend mainstream or specialist educational, leisure and health-related activities.
Requirements
  • Experience of working with people who have experienced mental health and / or dual diagnosis issues in a paid or voluntary role.
  • Knowledge of relevant Mental Health legislation, including Care Program Approach (CPA) processes.
  • Understanding of the principles of recovery as an ethos and a range of recovery approaches.
  • Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative, overseeing induction of volunteers.
  • Good IT skills, including MS Word, Outlook and internet functions.
