Refuge Support Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Worker to join our Refuge Services team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and inclusive environment for women and children affected by domestic abuse. Your primary responsibility will be to act as a key worker, motivating and empowering women to gain independence and achieve their full potential.

- Create support plans and help women achieve their goals and independence, working collaboratively as part of a team
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with women and external agencies, promoting services and working closely with local authorities, specialist charities, and education providers
- Provide on-call support and advice to colleagues, including telephone and in-person support
- Participate in shift cover and out-of-hours project attendance as required
To be considered for this role, you will need to possess excellent relationship-building and partnership-working skills, with a non-judgmental mindset and an understanding of the impacts of homelessness, substance misuse, family breakdown, domestic abuse, and trauma. You will also need to be forward-thinking and resilient, with a strong character who can remain calm and collected in challenging situations.
Previous experience in support work or domestic abuse, with an understanding of housing options, housing law, and basic benefits, is essential. A full UK driving license and access to a car are also required.
