Embedded Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Design Engineer to join our team at Computer Futures. As a key member of our Applications Engineering team, you will be responsible for the development and support of electronic hardware and embedded software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the embedded design function and ensure projects are delivered on time, on specification, and are fit for purpose.
  • Design authority for all PCB and firmware solutions, working closely with the Engineering team to develop and implement new products and accessories.
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge and expertise in the field of embedded design and controls.
  • Collaborate with the Software development team to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components.
  • Design and execute experiments to validate and verify new machine and control concepts.
  • Control and maintain PCB and firmware design standards.
Requirements:
  • High level of competence in Altium and similar design systems (PCB schematic design, layout, and library management).
  • Strong hardware design capabilities, with a particular aptitude to power electronics and integration with other machine systems.
  • Digital/analogue (low to medium speed) design experience.
  • Strong competence in beneficial languages/tools for data processing, visualisation, and analysis (e.g., Python, SQL).
  • PCB test rig and process design experience.
  • Soldering of PTH & SMD devices.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically competent with MS Excel and/or other data processing tools.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and techniques.
  • DFM/DFA (design for manufacture/design for assembly), VA/VE, FMEA.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and an understanding of mechanical design principles.
What We Offer:

Competitive salary range of £55,000 - £65,000 + benefits. Hybrid working arrangement with on-site days based in Buckinghamshire.
