Spray Painting Technical Lead Job Overview

To address quality issues related to surface finishing, the successful candidate will work closely with paint finishing suppliers, contractors, and internal and external engineers to optimize new and existing paint application processes and equipment, ensuring increased productivity and quality while reducing costs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Resolve quality problems related to surface finishing
  • Work with paint finishing suppliers, contractors, and internal and external engineers to optimize new and existing paint application processes and equipment
  • Manage the finishing activities associated with new product introductions and special finishes required by the business
  • Manage all equipment used during the paint application process, including servicing, planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring legal compliance, and regular monitoring
  • Carry out quality checks of pre and post-painted components and provide feedback
  • Analyze surface coating-related data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement
  • Update and create documentation supporting paint application processes
  • Comply with all health and safety legislation and safe working practices
  • Provide advice and guidance on painting processes to anyone within the business
Spray Painting Technical Lead Job Requirements

A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a similar position is required. The ideal candidate will have experience with water-based and 2K spray finishes, sanding and polishing processes, and working with suppliers on paint-related problems. Conversance with the latest legislation around LAPPC, HAV, COSHH, and DESEAR is also essential.

Desirable Experience/Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in manufacturing environments
  • Wood surface coating experience
  • Experience of LAPPC Part B Permitting regulations
  • ATA or Level 3 NVQ equivalent
  • Maths and English GCSE level 'C' or equivalent
  • IS09001:2015 experience
  • Six Sigma green belt

Salary dependent on experience, likely £40k starting.
