Association of British and Irish Wild Animal Keepers invites applications for the position of Conservation Husbandry Expert.
This challenging role requires the successful candidate to work with a variety of species, including small mammals, birds, reptiles, invertebrates, hoof stock, wolves, tapir, gelada, and cats (lion, tiger, jaguar, leopard, cheetah, lynx, and wildcat).
Our zoo is situated in a scenic area near Dartmoor, with easy access to Plymouth. We are currently implementing a new Master Plan and Collection Plan, which will revolutionise our exhibits and visitor facilities.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including:
- A base salary of £27,000 - £33,000 per annum, dependent on experience
- Pro-rata 37.5 hours per week on a flexible roster
- 30 days annual leave, including bank holidays
- Enhanced parental leave entitlements
- Staff discounts and free zoo entry for immediate family members
- On-site parking facilities
- Relocation support if necessary
The ideal candidate will have a degree in biology or a related field, with extensive experience in animal care and husbandry. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of ZIMS are also essential.
