The Residential Designer will be part of a highly creative and complex project team at GA Group. The role requires a qualified team with a passion for design, technical understanding, and the ability to work with others.

The Designer will participate in concept schematic design presentations and provide construction documentation in line with GA drawing standards and internal/external guidelines, schedules, and requirements.

The Designer is responsible for ensuring that drawings, schedules, and other information are correct and complete before review and issue, under the direction of the Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Develop presentation material and maintain graphic quality and content.
  • Translate schematic design into design development drawings.
  • Assist the Project Manager in maintaining design intent through construction documentation.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager in producing specifications and schedules.
  • Review design proposals and finishes for code compliance.
  • Ensure all information and construction documentation is complete, correct, and compliant with graphic quality standards.
  • Provide answers, drawings, and clarifications in a timely manner.
  • Maintain good contact with contractors as required.
  • Ensure drawing content is adequate for construction and details are workable.
  • Communicate changes within the team.
  • Raise issues affecting the proposed design.
  • Check own work for quality, correctness, and completeness.
  • Meet deadlines to ensure a smooth project.
  • A good knowledge of AutoCAD is essential.

Authority

  • Review changes to the proposed design with the Project Manager before amending documentation.
  • Review changes to FF&E documentation with the Project Manager and FF&E designer.
  • Request modification of design information when it affects the design due to base building constraints.
