Job Title: Principal Operations Technician

Location: Barrow-In-Furness - Shift work

Salary: £40,748+ depending on skills and experience

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Operations Technician to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our Facilities Management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the infrastructure to support the Dreadnought Programme and final submarines of the Astute class.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take control of work processes, interfacing with all parties across site
  • Comply with Operating Instructions for Nuclear Facilities (Nuclear Baseline Position)
  • Carry out plant and key infrastructure walk downs, and perform checklists for Chilled Water, Sea Water, Demineralised Water, etc.
  • Generate and review operating instructions
  • Monitor plant status and oversee building management systems that control heating, ventilation, lighting, high and low voltage electrical distribution, fire detection/suppression systems, and other mechanical services
  • Evaluate and communicate to site-wide customers any impact to infrastructure or assets, and coordinate initial incident response and recovery plans

Requirements:

  • HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering background (Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation & Controls)
  • Previous experience in a similar role in an industrial or commercial environment
  • Maintenance of facilities and infrastructure experience

Desirable Skills:

  • SAP knowledge
  • Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Understanding of working in a nuclear licensed site
