At Biffa, we are seeking an experienced Fleet Category Manager to join our team.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled professional with previous procurement and operations experience in automotive, fleet, or alternative fuels to meet our growing remit across Fleet Procurement.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Understand and execute Biffa's procurement processes, becoming skilled in respective process steps and able to train other Procurement Team members.
  • Provide coaching on category strategy development, sharing valuable knowledge within the Fleet Procurement team.
  • Design procurement documentation and lead overall category strategy, implementing specific approaches for individual suppliers and contractual arrangements.
  • Negotiate high-value, high-risk contracts with suppliers that protect the business by providing relevant risk management, financial, and non-financial benefits to the group.
  • Define business risks and apply language to protect the company, offering exclusive alternatives to improve contracts over time.
  • Establish strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders to agree effective procurement support and resources aligned to business unit strategy and plans.
Essential Requirements

We require:

  • Experience in fleet, automotive, or alternative fuel-related categories.
  • Financial acumen to interpret P&L statements and work with Finance and Operational stakeholders to realise expected benefits.
  • Ability to challenge business processes and purchasing rationale to fully identify business needs and deliver effective options.
  • Knowledge of environmental, labour/human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement themes and their criteria contributing to positive social value.
  • A structured approach to full project management including overall plans, activities, milestones, actions, risks, stakeholders, and governance.

Biffa offers a competitive salary of £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
