Transformative Opportunity in Acute Medicine
Swansea Bay University Health Board is seeking an exceptional Lead Physician in Internal Medicine to join our innovative service. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of acute medicine in West Wales.
We are looking for a highly skilled and dedicated professional who can provide clinical leadership and expertise to our Acute Internal Medicine Department. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of developing effective working relationships with management and clinical colleagues to improve services.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, relatives, and staff. They should also be flexible and adaptable to competing demands, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and cope with setbacks.
As a Lead Physician in Internal Medicine, you will have the opportunity to develop and improve the activity within acute medicine and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC). You will work closely with our newly developing Frailty team to support the delivery of a whole system redesign of the Integrated Acute Medical Pathway.
We offer a competitive salary of £100,000 - £120,000 per annum, depending on experience. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership and expertise to the Acute Internal Medicine Department
- Develop effective working relationships with management and clinical colleagues to improve services
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, relatives, and staff
- Work effectively under pressure and cope with setbacks
- Contribute to the development and improvement of acute medicine and SDEC
- Support the delivery of a whole system redesign of the Integrated Acute Medical Pathway
Qualifications and Experience:
- Registered with the GMC and licensed to practice
- On Specialist Register with GMC as a specialist in Acute Medicine and general internal medicine or eligible for CCT within 6 months of date of interview
- MRCP or equivalent
- Relevant higher degree (PhD, MD, MSc) or teaching qualification/Higher qualification in medical education desirable
- Experience of working with management and clinical colleagues to improve services and evidence of an ability to develop effective working relationships
