Competitive Pay and Benefits
  • Starting salary of £36,774 per annum, plus £4,500 per annum London Allowance, and £1,794 per annum Seasonal Working Allowance, totaling £43,068 per annum

  • 37 hours Monday to Friday, with weekends off

About the Role

Mechanical and Electrical fitters take on a wide range of duties on Substation plant and equipment, including installation, refurbishment, maintenance, fault investigation, and repair. You will benefit from industry-leading training at our facilities in Eakring, Nottinghamshire, and other substation sites.

You will work on complex 275kV or 400kV circuit breakers, transformers, high-speed on-load tap changers, and cable systems, as well as ancillary equipment such as DC battery systems, air compressors, and diesel generators. Weekend work may be required, with overtime paid.

Requirements
  • A minimum Level 2/3 recognised apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering, or an NVQ/Level 3 electrical or mechanical qualification with relevant fitting experience
  • Good all-round engineering skills, including working to safety procedures, mechanical fitting, electrical fitting, hydraulics, pneumatics, working at height, lifting operations, panel wiring, and fault finding
  • A Full UK Driving Licence
  • Ability to use a computer
  • Residency within 30 minutes' travel of Northfleet or Gillingham
