We are currently seeking an experienced School Governance Specialist to join our team at Langside School.

Job Description

The School Governance Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring the school maintains its mission and vision, while holding the senior leadership team accountable for the performance of the school, its pupils, and staff.

This involves:

  • Ensuring the school's strategic objectives are aligned with its mission and vision;
  • Monitoring the school's progress towards its strategic objectives;
  • Ensuring the required policies and procedures are in place and the school is operating effectively in line with these policies;
  • Evaluating relevant data and feedback provided by school leaders and external reporting on all aspects of school performance;
  • Holding the principal to account for standards and compliance with agreed policies;
  • Visiting the school to monitor implementation of the strategy and reporting back to the board;

In addition, the School Governance Specialist will contribute to the governing body by:

  • Attending and participating in meetings;
  • Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with senior leaders and colleagues on the board;
  • Getting to know the school, including visiting the school occasionally during school hours;
  • Undertaking induction training and developing knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of education governance and policy;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition, you will receive a range of benefits, including:
